Long couple of Weeks
It's been too long since my last post, I have been under tremendous stress at work and it's taken it's toll in my time, but I have to tell you that having the neutraceuticals and the Medications that PRCinDC has been able to provide has made all the difference in the world. Through it all I feel great, have lots of energy made it through this with so much energy that I am still commuting home on my 24 mile bike ride every workday. So I want to send out cudo's to the team at PRCinDC.

One more week later and the ENERGY is still there, actually feels like still Growing!!!!
I thought maybe the Energy I was getting the prior week, was just a change due to the Medications, and Neutraceuticals, but I have to say it continues to grow. I started riding my old bike from my office to the bike trail spot where it connected to the local Metro, just on the trip home, and I have done that now for the entire week, and on the past Friday, I actually rode home from Work to my place in DC, which more than doubled the trip, and even that didn't wear me out, so the energy levels just keep growing. I am going to be biking home from work to my place in DC the whole week, so I will blog about how that feels next Monday. Can't wait to see the results of the rest of the lab work so I can get started on the new Medications. Here is a shout out to Tom and Crew at PRCinDC.
Just as an aside I was doing this riding home in one of the hottest weeks in DC, so even that didn't faze me, making sure to stay well hydrated while doing it works wonders.

Energy, ENERGY
Well here we are a week later and the energy levels are tremendous, my skin is looking great and I can actually say that all around I am feeling much better. I guess the key thing here for everyone to know is I am only partially into the necessary Rx as well as I am using the Neutraceuticals from Pharmanex. The combination of the awesome neutraceuticals with the now almost two weeks of Medications has been really quite astonishing. I didn't think I could feel this good at my age (52.) I can't wait for the rest of the lab work to be concluded so we can add the rest of the Doctor's recommended Medications to my regimen and see what that does for me. So here's to Eric and the Team at PRCinDC. So if your a man or you have a man in your life, get in touch with PRCinDC as it will make a world of difference.

First set of Product on its way and already scheduling next set of Labs
I have a set of Neutraceuticals, and Prescriptions from the Pharmacy on its way too me today. I am excited to be starting my new regimen as designed by PRCinDC. I have a second follow-up set of Labs to be sure everything is accurate after my blood draw so we are scheduling that for next week. Really looking forward to the more accurate results and getting all of this setup. Thanks Eric and Tom.

Therapeutic Blood Draw
I had my therapeutic blood draw today at Washington Hospital Center, got the last appointment of the day, arrived 30 minutes early, filled out the standard paperwork and then they checked me for all the normal things, blood pressure, pulse, and iron before doing the draw. I then sat down in a blue lounge chair and the great nurse did her stuff. About 15 minutes later, I was done and actually feeling great. Had my water and snack to get me perked back up even though I didn't need it, and then walked me out to the Shuttle to get back to the Metro. Great place and awesome people. I had lab work done a couple of days ago and one of the numbers was too high, so I needed to have this done, so I can proceed with PRCinDC doing the right setup for me with the doctors. So Glad to be working with Tom and Eric

We are up and Running with new Brick and Mortar
24mar11
Whew! These past few weeks have been filled with many last-minute details, but I'm happy to announce that we're finally up and running and taking on clients! It's very exciting here at the PRC in DC offices -- our new brick & mortar will be in Takoma Park (the DC side, not across the street, where all those Marylanders are...), literally steps away from the DC Metro! What an amazing journey this has been. Don't worry, we'll be announcing our "Office Warming" Party very soon, where we'll serve the very healthiest of snacks.Meanwhile, if you're interested in getting started, we're ready to talk anti-aging with you!
Serious Discussion
23feb11
Though I want to fill this column with serious discussion about hormones and therapies and cool new products, I've been having fun today coming up with ideas for promotional items. We secured a booth at DC PRIDE this June, and I want to make sure we have something fun -- like a sticker or rub-on tattoo -- to give out ASIDE from the informational stuff. That's my kind of task! It's too early in the morning to call potential clients back -- I've had too much coffee -- sounds perfect! Brainstorming is my favorite part of the creative process.
"I REFUSE TO AGE"
"[infinity symbol] = me"
and my personal favorite, a round sticker, looks like the fuel gage on your car, labeled "TESTOSTERONE" with the arm pointing to "F", below, the caption, "What's YOUR level?" and our logo.
Basically, what I'm saying is, I'm open to ideas! Write me here or at our Facebook page with your thoughts!
Meanwhile, I have some calls to make...
(Quick update on the Nutraceuticals. Last week, Eric and I started doing the injectable aminos that I talked about last column. HOLY COW -- what a difference! More on that next time...)
Word of the Day Nutraceuticals!
11feb11
The word of the day is NUTRACEUTICALS!I know what you're thinking. "C'mon, Tom. The stuff I get from the Local Vitamin Store is just fine. What possible advantage in injectable amino acids?"
First, let's discuss the term bioavailability, which is the body's absorbtion rate for a supplemental product. Even assuming that the oral pill is 80% of the amino acid advertised (and it's often significantly less -- most oral products are fillers and unrelated crud), after going through the acids of the digestive system, little of the amino actually enters the bloodstream. Most is flushed away through the liver and kidneys. So, you're starting with less than 100% of the product, and you digest away most of THAT.
In terms of bio-availability, an injectable amino -- already at 100% purity -- delivers 100% to the body, because it avoids the breakdown in the digestive system, and the filtering in the liver. At PRCinDC, we'll be offering a line of Nutraceutical amino acids. I guess I'll get the list out of the way right now:
**L-Carnitine -- Carnitine is a nutrient that helps the body turn fat into energy. It is
produced by the body in the liver and kidneys and stored in the skeletal
muscles, heart, and brain. Carnitine can provide more energy and help with
fat loss. Additionally carnitine can increase androgen receptor density
making testosterone and other androgens to work more efficiently.
**L-Arginine -- Arginine is an amino acid, converts into N.O. (nitric oxide). NO is a
powerful vasodilator to increase the blood flow to your muscles and organs.
This can increase physical performance and exercise recovery. Additionally,
Arginine can increase sexual performance in a mechanism similar to Viagra
(vasodilatation). Several studies have shown that injectable arginine can
boost growth hormone levels.
**L-Glutamine -- Glutamine is an amino acid, specifically the most prevalent amino acid in
the body. It can enhance exercise recovery and boost physical performance.
Glutamine can also assist with injury healing. Glutamine may cause higher
growth hormone levels in the body.
**L-Glutathione -- Glutathione is considered the master antioxidant. It is produced by the
liver and is critical for detoxifying the body. As the master antioxidant
it can help eliminate free radicals which some consider the cause of aging.
Certain medications can place stress on the liver decreasing glutathione
levels and liver health. When the liver functions more efficiency health
is improved. Lastly improved liver functioning may help lower estrogen
levels in men, which can contribute to a leaner body, improved sexual
performance and less side effect from testosterone.
**L- Carnosine -- Carnosine, is an amino acid made naturally in the body. Supplementation of
carnosine is considered by many to be a powerful anti-aging supplement. It
may increase physical performance and exercise recovery. It works inside
cells at the mitochondrial level. As we age mitochondria (cellular energy
producers) decline, carnosine my help improve energy at the mitochondrial
cellular level helping to prevent aging.
**MIC Injections -- MIC is an injection that contains L-Methionine, Inositol, and Choline.
These are lipotropic agents that are believed to support liver function and
promote the excretion of fat. L-Methionine is an amino acid. Inositol and
choline are cofactors. Together they help the body in the mobilization and
elimination of abnormal fat deposits.
Eric and I decided to try a ten week program and see what we thought. We're using the L-Carnitine, the L-Glutamine, and the L-Glutathione (which I have trouble pronouncing). Started this morning before my workout and I have to say -- and I know there's a psychological effect of starting something new -- that I swear I could feel it. I had great energy and focus -- on the other hand, it WAS shoulder day, and that's my favorite...
I'll keep everyone updated about how I progress, but I suspect I already know how it's going to read. Not that that will stop me.
Peace.
Blog Master
18jan11
Hi -- this is Tom, your blog-master! (What a title!) This is what I'm hearing, aside from well-wishes and many wonderful congratulatory words from our friends -- "I don't understand," people say. "What exactly will you be doing? Explain the process."
Easy to do.
The client may come to us for any number of reasons: low testosterone, overweight, ungracefully aging, feeling punky -- whatever. The first thing we'd do is send the client to get their blood work done. We'd give them the necessary paperwork and the address of the nearest LabCorps (even the client's own pcp can do it). THERE IS NOTHING WE CAN DO FOR A PATIENT UNTIL WE HAVE THE LAB WORK. I think that's important to stress, especially so there's no misinformation. Everything we do is based upon the client's needs.
When we receive the lab work, our physician analyzes it and makes recommendations based on what s/he sees. (I can speak from personal experience that it is the most thorough analysis I've ever had -- we went over my bloodwork for more than a half an hour as my Patient Care Coordinator explained what all the numbers meant. I learned things about my insides that I'd never known before. No matter who you are, it's good to hear your liver's fine.)
The client will then be presented with the Doctor's recommendations in terms of therapy. This can include supplements, vitamins, or hormonal treatments. The patient and the PCC decide on which course of action to take and places an order. This order is reviewed by our Nurse Practitioner then forwarded to our cooperating pharmacy.
The pharmacy also reviews the treatment and fills the perscription(s). When the prescriptive order is complete, the pharmacy ships via FedEx to the client, usually overnight.
When the prescription is used or has expired, the client calls us, we review again, and if the timing's appropriate, we fwd a refill prescription to the pharmacy.
I want people to understand that we're not selling stuff out of our basement or anything. Nothing is done that is not based on the client's lab work. It's possible that we won't be able to help a client -- their blood work may be just fine.
