Therapeutic Blood Draw

I had my therapeutic blood draw today at Washington Hospital Center, got the last appointment of the day, arrived 30 minutes early, filled out the standard paperwork and then they checked me for all the normal things, blood pressure, pulse, and iron before doing the draw. I then sat down in a blue lounge chair and the great nurse did her stuff. About 15 minutes later, I was done and actually feeling great. Had my water and snack to get me perked back up even though I didn't need it, and then walked me out to the Shuttle to get back to the Metro. Great place and awesome people. I had lab work done a couple of days ago and one of the numbers was too high, so I needed to have this done, so I can proceed with PRCinDC doing the right setup for me with the doctors. So Glad to be working with Tom and Eric

  1. I had to have one done myself last year. I was amazed at how good I felt afterwards, too (and how it helped my blood pressure -- lol).

Not everybody experiences high hematocrit levels while on therapy. Some of us are just extraordinarily good at creating red blood cells. One good phlebotomy and all's well!
